Why Windows starts with a conversation

Windows Server licensing for hosted servers follows different rules from the licences you buy for your own hardware, and some applications (SQL Server, Remote Desktop Services, accounting packages with their own licence servers) add rules of their own. Getting this wrong is expensive, so we check it with you before we take payment.

In practice that means a short call or a few emails: what runs on the server today, how many people use it, whether you need Remote Desktop access, and which version your software supports. You then get a fixed monthly price in writing.

Windows updates restart servers, so we agree a regular maintenance window with you, typically early morning or at the weekend, and tell you before anything unusual is installed.

Support hours

Engineers on tickets: Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00 UK time.
Critical incidents: Every day, 07:00 to 23:00 UK time. A person responds to critical incidents within 1 hour.
Nights and weekends: Automated monitoring and automated recovery overnight and at weekends.

Questions we get asked

Why can't I order Windows online straight away?

Because hosted Windows licensing depends on what you run and how people connect to it. We confirm that with you first so the price you are quoted is the price you pay.

Is the Windows Server licence included?

The monthly price includes a Windows Server licence for the server we host. Licences for your own applications, such as SQL Server or Remote Desktop access, are checked with you before setup.

Which Windows Server versions do you offer?

We set up a currently supported version that your software is certified for. We do not build new servers on versions that are out of support or close to it.

Can my team use Remote Desktop?

Usually yes, but Remote Desktop for several users needs its own licences and careful security settings, so we cover it in the first conversation.

Is VAT added?

No. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added to our prices.
