# Managed AWS: we run your account, you keep ownership and the bill.

> Managed AWS is day to day operations for the AWS account you already have, from £249/month: monitoring and alerting, patching, backups, a monthly cost report and changes on request. AWS keeps billing you directly; we never resell AWS and never hold your root account.

## How the price works

Managed AWS is **£249/month**. At list price, accounts that spend more than £3,000 a month with AWS also pay 8% of the spend above £3,000, because a larger account takes more looking after. Our first 50 customers pay the flat fee without the usage element.

Table: Worked examples at list price (AWS usage itself is billed by AWS, not by us)

| Your monthly AWS spend | Usage element | Our monthly fee |
| --- | --- | --- |
| £2,500 | None (below the threshold) | £249 |
| £5,000 | 8% of (£5,000 minus £3,000) = £160 | £409 |

## How we access your account

- You create an IAM role for us with the permissions we agree in writing. You can read it, narrow it and remove it at any time.
- We never ask for your root credentials and never take over billing.
- Every change we make is requested by ticket, so you have a written trail alongside AWS CloudTrail.

## Support hours

- **Engineers on tickets:** Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 18:00 UK time.
- **Critical incidents:** Every day, 07:00 to 23:00 UK time. A person responds to critical incidents within 1 hour.
- **Nights and weekends:** Automated monitoring and automated recovery overnight and at weekends.

## Questions we get asked

### Do you resell AWS?

No. AWS bills you directly, under your own agreement with AWS. We only charge our management fee.

### What if we want to leave?

You already own everything. Remove our IAM role and the account carries on as before. Notice periods are in our [terms](https://wharfcloud.co.uk/legal/terms).

### Do you provide round the clock on-call?

No. Engineers work UK business hours, critical incidents get a person within 1 hour between 07:00 and 23:00 every day, and alerting runs all the time. If you need guaranteed overnight engineers, we will tell you honestly that we are not the right fit.

### Can you help us move from our current hosting into AWS?

Yes, as a separately quoted project. Often a managed server is cheaper than AWS for small workloads, and we will say so if it is.
